Julie had to work this weekend... This means that daddy gets to take care of his little girl. With a little apprehension I took on this task only to find out that I felt like a natural. We woke up at 9:30 AM, in daddy's bed little girl snuggled gently into his left side.
After a few minutes of jibber jabber we arose and prepared our breakfast. Lola a 5 oz bottle of breast milk and daddy a protein shake and Pop Tart. We leashed up the dog and loaded up into the stroller for a walk through the neighborhood, a beautiful day with the trees shading much of the street we took a walk to Uncle Jason's house. We arrived just in time to see them off to church and to offer our help on building a privacy fence later today.
Returning home we came into the office so Lola can practice sitting up like a BIG girl (in her Bumbo) as dad pays all the bills online. At 11:30 dad prepares his little girl for a nap, it was then that life seemed overwhelming for dad. It wasn't that she was fussy or that I had a hard time, but rather that he felt the love of parenthood. Holding his little girl in his arms and walking her gently up and down the hall, the soft music of Nickel Creek in the background, life hit dad and he began to cry.
Does life get any better than this? God has given me a gift and for me to have that moment with her it was like I felt that real sense of purpose in life. I have the opportunity to shape my daughter with many of the values she will carry with her throughout her lifetime. I have a wonderful wife who not only takes care of Lola, but also takes care of me. I have a job that I love and the life I always dreamed about. I only pray that I take proper care of these things in my life as I often battle the fact that I feel I don't deserve their love. I hope you all have the opportunities I have. I hope everyone feels fulfilled at some point in their lives and I hope that when the Hand of God is gently rested on your shoulder that you take the time to look up and give thanks for all the wonderful things this life brings to us.
